Using the App
Why is my child’s birthday required?

Only the month and year are needed, not the day. Shoe size is calculated based on three factors: the length of the foot, the gender of the child, and the age of the child (stage of development — infant, toddler, little kid, big kid, woman, man). How often your child’s feet should be measured is based greatly on their age.

Why is if my child is a boy or girl relevant?

Shoe size is calculated based on three factors: the length of the foot, the gender of the child (boy or girl), and the age of the child.

When should I measure my child’s feet?

The afternoon is the optimum time to size your child’s feet for shoes because the feet tend to be slightly swollen after walking during the day.

Does my child need to stand when I measure their feet?

Yes. The average foot gets two sizes longer when a child stands up.

Do I need an internet connection when using the app?

Yes. The app sends the picture to our servers for analyzing the image of the foot and calculating the shoe size.

How should I hold the iPhone or iPad?

Make sure the blue rectangle is just outside of the boarders of the white sheet of paper. Level the phone with the photo key that acts as a level.

Can large adult feet be measured?

Yes. Feet up to adult size 16 US (49 EUR, 15 ½ UK) can be measured.

Does it matter which way is up on the phone screen?

Make sure the blue rectangle is just outside of the boarders of the white sheet of paper. This will direct which way the phone screen faces.

Should my child have bare feet when taking the photo?

Yes. The measurements should be taken of bare feet. Socks come in various thicknesses and affect the length and the width of the foot size.

Should I measure both feet?

Yes. You should measure both feet, one at a time. First measure the right foot and then the left foot. The right foot and left foot are often slightly different sizes. If the feet are different sizes, the shoe size is calculated relative to the larger foot.

How long does the sizing process take?

It takes just a few minutes to measure both of a child’s feet. Most of the time is taken getting your child to place one foot on the paper and against the wall. Once this is done, the analysis takes just a few seconds. Then this is repeated on the other foot. A few minutes at home can save you a few hours in the shoe store.

Why do I sometimes get different length measurements?

It is normal for the size measurements to vary slightly. Take as much care as you can in positioning the sheet against the wall and making sure the paper does not shift as the foot is placed upon it. The heel should be gently touching the rear wall and centered on the back off the sheet of paper.

Does the measurement allow room for growth?

Yes. An extra half shoe size is automatically added to the measurement for all children to allow for growth. Be sure to select “child” rather than “adult” in the settings. If you choose “adult”, no extra growth room is added.

How accurate are the measurements?

The app is quite accurate and measures in increments of a half foot size. However, it does depend on how well you position the sheet of paper and the foot against a wall, and the quality of the photo taken. The accuracy is best with careful positioning.

Should I zoom in to get better accuracy?

No. Do not zoom in. It is best to leave plenty of space around the sheet. Just use the guide pattern that is provided in the app to center the paper in the frame.
